Traffic and driving routes

Question	Risk assessment:

1. Are you referring to driving on roads?
a) Is it wide enough?
b) Is it in good condition, i.e. without deep hole irregularities?
2. Do one or more roads need to be separated, marked, and made one-way for different special vehicles?
3. Is there a traffic mirror that provides good visibility in hidden zones if necessary?
4. Is there a traffic guard where needed?
5. Are the port's traffic and safety rules, such as maximum speed, flashing lights, etc., known?

Machines and fillers for container handling.

a) Are the steps and grab bars designed to ensure comfortable and slip-free access?

d) Is the driver's seat adjustable and easy to adjust?

8. Is there a special parking space for machines?
9. Are there procedures for managing machine leaks?
10. Do machine operators use personal protective equipment such as safety shoes with steel caps, hi-vis clothing, and, if necessary, a helmet?
11. Are the attachment units used for container lifting in good condition and inspected?
12. Are forklifts and attachments clearly marked with information about the manufacturer, type, unladen weight, and the maximum load for which they are intended?

Unloading of containers with forklifts.

b) Is it sufficiently secured?
c) Are they placed so that they do not obstruct the signalman's work?
29. Is all lashing equipment removed from the door when it is opened?
30. Is the distance between the installed and secured hatch and the hatch opening at least 1m?
31. Are the hatches placed ashore if it is not possible to place them at the correct distance (at least 1 m)?
32. Is there protection around the cargo compartment hatch, such as railings or manoeuvres, that prevents staff from falling down?

Unloading of containers on ships.

a) Is the basket checked before use?
b) Is the passenger basket always secured in the lifting equipment?
c) Is there a security door on the basket?
d) Are there security rules posted on the door?
40. Are the twistlocks used of good quality and in good condition? NB! Damaged twistlocks should be discarded
41. Are there instructions for loosening twistlocks?
a) That lacks handles?
b) Mixed with right- and left-locking twistlocks?
c) That lacks a clear indication for unlocking?
d) Which are fully or semi-automatic?
42. Are twistlocks collected in a basket, for example? NB! Do not throw them into the hold.
43. Are the workers unloading containers trained in the work and warning signals used?
44. Is the communication between those unloading containers conducted in a safe and easily understandable manner?
45. After the loading is completed, is it always checked that all employees have left the ship?

Crane work, lifting equipment, and signalman.
