When you hire staff, you and the hiring company have a joint responsibility for the consultant's work environment. You and the hiring company must agree on who is responsible for what. Use the checklist to ensure that responsibility does not fall through the cracks. Your systematic work environment management should also include the consultant. In the checklist, the terms consultant and hired are used synonymously. The checklist complements the risk assessment you do for your employees. It contains situations and risks specific to temporary workers. The simplified risk assessment that is always included in Prevent's checklists is optional in this checklist.

Before the hired person starts

5. Has the hiring company been given access to the risk assessment for the consultant's tasks?
6. Have we appointed someone who is responsible for and ensures that the consultant's introduction is carried out?
7. Have we prepared for the consultant's arrival? e.g. computer, telephone, protective clothing, personal protective equipment, workplace, changing facilities.
8. Have other staff members been informed about the consultant's arrival and responsibilities?
9. Should the hired individual perform tasks that require medical examinations?
a) Is it clear with the hiring company who is responsible for medical check-ups?
10. Will the contractor perform tasks that require us to issue written permits?
a) Have we checked that the hired person has the documented knowledge required?
11. Is there a procedure for informing leasing companies if an accident or serious incident affects temporary staff?

6. Have we informed the consultant about who the work environment safety representative is?
7. Have we clearly communicated to the consultant which tasks should be prioritized in case of insufficient time?
8. Is the consultant equated with our own employees in terms of, for example, demands on workload, work pace and other working conditions?
9. Is our hired employee part of the team? e.g. invited to staff information, coffee, workplace meetings.
10. Do we check with the leasing company in cases where we want to change, expand or assign completely new tasks for the temporary worker?
11. Have we agreed with the rental company on what routine should apply in the event of any additional overtime?
